The Mancunian boys were on top form last week, playing to a packed out crowd at the atmospheric Forum in Kentish Town. With a set list drawing mainly from the critically acclaimed 2013 album, Arc, EE’s melodic, intricate sound – think pop rock meets electronica – was a rousing, if at times, ethereal, call to arms. Highlights include Don’t Try and, of course, Kemosabe.
Lead singer Jonathan Higg’s soaring vocals – featuring his characteristic falsetto – weren’t flawless but it didn’t detract from the overall performance. This, alongside the flurry of girls huddled by stage door afterwards, suggest their star is definitely on the rise.
